Report of the delegation of China Beverage Industry Association to the United States

I. participate in the 2004 International Packaging Machinery Expo and the international food processing machinery exhibition

on November, 2004, the 2004 International Packaging Machinery Expo was held at the McCormick Exhibition Center in Chicago, USA. It is the largest packaging and processing Expo in the Western Hemisphere. More than 1900 companies from more than 70 countries showed the latest advanced achievements in the fields of packaging machinery, packaging processing machinery, packaging materials, packaging containers, control systems, software, design systems, etc. the exhibitors involved more than a dozen industries such as automobile, beverage, medicine, chemical industry, printing, electronics, etc., with an exhibition area of more than 1.2 million square feet

the international food processing machinery exhibition, held at the same time as the 2004 International Packaging Machinery Expo, intensively displayed the latest development achievements in the processing technology of the food industry and the beverage industry. 350 exhibitors from more than 70 countries will focus on the latest technologies in the processing fields of fruits and vegetables, beverages, frozen cans, related environmental protection equipment, instruments and meters, made food, can manufacturing, meat, dairy products, fast food and so on. III. visit 4C food Corp.

on November 11, at the invitation of 4C food group, the delegation visited its food and beverage processing plant in New York. Daniel C. Swartz, 4C vice president, and Maqbool Ahmad (MAC), quality and technology manager, introduced the company to the delegation. 4C food group is a family business established by Italian immigrants in 1935. In the early days of its establishment, the company was mainly engaged in the processing and retail of powdered and crumb cheese. With the development of the company, it began to produce and process ice tea series products in 1974. Now 4C company has four kinds of products: cheese, bread crumbs, iced tea powder and soup. It is understood that the ice tea powder products of 4C company are divided into five categories: lemon, peach, raspberry, green tea and decaffeinated. There are more than ten kinds of packaging types, from single cup processing to 2.63kg large household packaging. In 2003, the company's sales revenue was 75Million US dollars, of which the sales revenue of iced tea powder accounted for 50% of the company's annual sales revenue. The sales volume of iced tea powder products containing sugar alone had exceeded 200million pounds in 2003, becoming the pillar product of 4C company. At present, 4C company's ice tea series products are mainly distributed along the northeast and east coast of the United States, and gradually advance to the West. According to 4C company, in 2003, the sales volume of 4C company's iced tea powder products in the northeast of the United States accounted for 40% of its total sales volume of iced tea powder, and its sales volume on the east coast of the United States has exceeded Lipton iced tea%, becoming the largest iced tea powder sales brand on the east coast

IV. visit Cargill juice North America, Inc.

on November 15, the delegation visited Cargill juice North America, which is located in frostproof, Florida, and is mainly engaged in orange concentrate and NFC. The company has three FMC production lines, each of which has 11 Juicers, and each Juicer can process five oranges at the same time. The daily processing capacity of oranges is about 1466 tons, with an annual processing period of about 6 months. The annual output of orange juice products is 15million liters (of which 66brix frozen concentrated orange juice accounts for 80% and non frozen orange juice 20%). The raw orange is leafed, cleaned, sorted (rotten fruit rate%, detected manually), graded, pressed, degassed, sweetened, concentrated, stirred and stored in the cooling tank at a temperature of 18 degrees Fahrenheit. 11 tons of orange are consumed per ton of concentrated orange juice. At the same time, orange peel will be used for the processing of orange oil, and fruit residue will be used for feed processing after drying. Cargill produces 170000 tons of concentrated fruit juice worldwide, of which orange juice accounts for 75%. Mr. Michael Miller, Cargill's regional sales manager, introduced Cargill's products to the delegation in detail. Cargill mainly processes orange, grapefruit and citrus products, and has a processing plant for apples and peaches in Chile, as well as a processing cooperation company for guava, pineapple, peach and apricot. At present, Cargill beverage processing department can produce from 0% flavor water to 100% fruit juice, including 13 kinds of products, including aerated drinks, low fruit juice drinks, flavor iced tea, fruit juice milk, pulp drinks, NFC, NFC mixed fruit juice, functional fruit juice drinks, etc. Based on the research of the global market analysis department on consumers and the analysis of consumption concepts, the market service department can provide global consumption trend prediction and flavor change prediction, and can provide a variety of NPD services for beverage manufacturers. v. CBIA meets with American Beverage Association (ABA)

on November 12, CBIA Secretary General Ms. Yali Zhao met with ABA vice president and Secretary General Ms. Patricia Magee Vaughan, deputy director and Mr. J. Preston read of the Ministry of environmental affairs to discuss beverage classification, standards and other issues, and to explore further cooperation between the two associations in the beverage field in the next few years

Founded in 1919, ABA was initially composed of carbonated beverage manufacturers. After nearly 75 years of development, ABA is currently composed of more than 100 bottlers, dealers and suppliers, including beverage brands, flavor companies and packaging suppliers, including carbonated beverages, instant tea, bottled water, fruit juice and fruit juice drinks, sports drinks, etc. Its member units have 183000 employees, with annual sales of more than 8.5 billion US dollars
